Artspace residents, retailers plan gathering

Six-year-old Nico Shaw watches Kristy Gonzales, owner of downtown coffee shop A Cup of Joe, pick through a fresh mix of roasted espresso beans. A Cup of Joe is feeling the pinch of a worsening economy. The shop has fallen behind on its lease payments and needs to catch up soon to avoid eviction. Last Wednesday, one hole into the 110th Utah Men's State Amateur golf tournament, Dan Horner's chances of winning didn't look too promising.
He had to drain a 15-foot putt just to make a triple-bogey seven on his opening hole at Soldier Hollow State Park golf course. "Bruce Bunderson's mind was racing.
Would the little Taiwanese boy who would be spending the next five weeks in his Highland home even like him? Would they be able to communicate? Did he even want to be in America?

"I can't decide if I'm more scared or more excited," said Bunderson, as he waited in the Salt Lake City International Airport to meet Yu Chen, a Taiwanese orphan. "I'm just hoping he will smile.""
