After nearly 30 years serving in the Texas Legislature, 86-year-old Delwin Jones lost decisively to Charles Perry in April's Republican primary runoff in Texas House District 83. I spent the evening with both campaigns. Jones spent much of the evening alone or on his cell phone at River Smith's restaurant in Lubbock. Although I haven't lived in Texas long, I hear he had a successful career in the Legislature. You can only imagine the range of emotions going through his mind in the photo below.
