Monterey's playoff streak halts... and more

Midland Lee Rebels quarterback Jace Edwards (2) leaps over Monterey Plainsmen defensive back Jordan Vestal (8) to score a touchdown Friday night at Lowrey Field in Lubbock. Texas Tech escapes defeat in 37-31 OT victory over Nebraska



Saturday's game against Nebraska was more exciting than I'm sure Tech had hoped for. Nebraska scored 21 fourth quarter points to tie Texas Tech and force overtime. In OT Tech scored a touchdown on its first possession but missed the extra-point. During Nebraska's drive Tech's defense forced an interception and won the game.

Goat industry growing in west Texas

As the cost of feed and land escalates, a growing number of people looking to raise livestock on the South Plains are focusing on the other red meat - goat.

Just in Lubbock, there are about 2,000 head of breeding-age meat goat does, and that number is increasing according to Robert Scott, a Texas AgriLife Extension agent in Lubbock.
